Five things you must do January 20, 2008 |
Five things you must do to win more gamesMaster These Five On Your Way To The TopWhen you travel through The Monk 101 program you must understand five all important things. 1. You either get it or you don’t. There is no middle ground. I hope you are the one who gets it. 2. You create your own experience. We are each 100% responsible for all of our experiences. 3. Life rewards action. Make sure you put your knowledge to work. Knowledge does not become wisdom until it is applied. 4. You have to name it before you can claim it. Be strong. Be free. Claim your championship. It is yours. 5. Half measures avail us nothing. Be fully committed to your journey. The brain is motivated by two things. It seeks pleasure and it avoids pain. The brain does not debate the value of anything. Make sure your pleasure is “I Came To Win” and your brain will move towards that.
Take our "avoid it at all cost" testCheck off what you would like to avoid. 1. Being in the spot light 2. Higher expectations on yourself 3. Making others sad. 4. Being disliked 5. Having others jealous of you 6. Confrontation 7. Rejection We gain consistency in our game when we gain our freedom from the above checked items. Once you are free to perform, you will find the consistency you desire. You can eliminate the above list by making your only concern “I Came To Win”.

1-603-566-6229The Fine Art of Hitting the Cue BallLearn the fine art of hitting the cue ballPosition play and cue ball speed are directly related to the use of stroke. Without the mastery of stroke, you will not become a good position player. The stroke determines the track line of the cue ball. The stroke determines the distance the cue ball will travel. In order to become a good position player you must be a master at the second stage of pocket billiards. I have seen player after player come to my tournaments and wrestle with English to gain position on their next shot. If they are in dead stroke, they do well. But if they are off with their game, they are out before they get started. English depends upon so many variables that sooner or later, something is going to go wrong. • You depend on how you feel. • You depend on the condition of your tip. • You depend on the quality of the chalk. • You depend on how much spin you put on the ball. You have to allow for squirt on the cue ball and throw on the object ball. There are so many reasons we can miss by using spin, it is a wonder we are able to make a shot at all. The idea that we can pocket a ball by using one cue tip low right and a lot of spin is a direct testament on how much talent we have. Think about how much easier it would be if we could handle the same shot and position the cue ball with center ball and a stroke. We need to get away from excessive spin.
The lost art of the stroke is beginning to make a comeback. I have been writing about this for years. Still, I watch the pros put spin on just about every shot. That is because they are learning this game from each other. When you learn to use your stroke to both pocket a ball, and gain position on your next ball, you will then become a master player.
