The Monk’s New Shot December 14, 2006 |
The Monk’s New ShotI want to teach you a new shot. It is called “make it – take it”.
You must be the master of this new shot if you want to run racks of eight ball. When you are faced with a cut shot and you are not sure where the cue ball is going, you must resort to your skills at “make it – take it”. When you do this, you keep your chances alive to complete the run out.
I remember doing an exhibition at a fair in New Hampshire and with all the spectators watching me play I did not want to miss a shot. It would be okay if I got hooked and could not see a shot but not okay if The Monk missed.
All during this exhibition I used the “make it – take it” approach and ran seven racks. My record.
How many times has your run ended in failure because you were not sure of position and did not give one hundred per cent to the shot at hand. Be the master of the “make it – take it” and you will be “taking it” to the bank.
TIGHT GRIPI want you to run off a rack of balls and just as you deliver the stroke, grip your cue tightly with your grip hand. I think you will find that your object ball races to the desired pocket in a much more accurate line.
The quality of your stroke is best demonstrated by how the object ball reacts to the cue ball. Note this reaction from a tight grip. Enroll in SRT Secrets Revealed Book.I have a new book that gives you all the information you need regarding the Secrets Revealed Tour.Email me for your copy. You will find it very interesting. The Secrets Revealed Tour is the best way to learn the great secrets the Pro's don't want you to learn. Share your thoughts on the ForumForumNEW EXERCISE FROM THE MONKFor all of you who have a copy of The Lesson I have a new exercise for you. It is great to go through that training manual. Set up your object ball on diamond number three beyond the side pocket. Set up another object ball on the number three diamond on your side of the side pocket on the opposite rail.
Shoot the first ball and then set up for the second shot exactly as you saw the first shot. In other words, leave yourself an angle. Then shoot the second one and set up again for the first shot. Go back and forth until you have no shot. I have six volleys before I mess up.
This is a great exercise. If you don’t have The Lesson you should order it today. This book has helped tens of thousands of players all over the world. As an e book, you will be able to print out the exercise you are working on. Your game will really improve once you go through The Lesson. Use a punch stroke on the first shot. Hit the cue ball one-half cue tip above center to walk across the table for position on the second ball. You should be set up for a nice crystal clear punch stroke so you will come across the table for another shot at what was the first ball. You will find that you can be consistent with your position play if you rely upon your stroke. Let the stroke do the work. Don’t fight the cue ball.
Do not be tentative here. Deliver a crisp punch stroke. Mean what you do. If you are even the slightest bit tentative on this shot, you will fail to pocket the object ball. Any time you shoot a ball, you must mean what you are doing.
