Get in The Zone

There are many instructors in this game who like to set up props and impress you will little adjustments that make them look like real teachers. When we are given a tip, such as “keep you head down,” or “tuck your elbow in” or “finish towards the target” these words work very well. We think our instructor is a genius. Then we slip back into our old ways and things are as they were.

I can give you one tip that covers those three examples and a million others “Stay focused on the shot”. That is what happens when you get a little tip. Your focus for that moment is increased and you think you have stepped up to another level. Believe me a tip is not going to take you to the next level.

Many of our instructors pride themselves on having you spend a thousand dollars plus air fare plus lodging, plus expenses for three days of gimmickry. You do come away enthused. But you do not move to the next level.

My tip to “stay focused on the shot” is backed up with a complete program to help you reach the next level. You won’t learn it in three days, or three weeks or three months. And I won’t ask for air fare, lodging or expenses.

What we need to talk about is your stroke training. The stroke determines the track line and the speed of the cue ball. If you do not have a good stroke, you won’t be able to see the shots you need to make.

First of all, you need to acquire knowledge of this game. You won’t get that in three days. I offer over sixty classes in the Bronze Level at MMU. These sixty classes will help you build that solid foundation from which to develop your skills.

Then you need to take action and develop your skills. Knowledge applied is skill developed. You find all of this in the Silver Level at MMU.

Then you need to take your knowledge, and your skills, and put them together to realize your dream of becoming a fine player. You can do that in the Gold Level of MMU.

Log on to www.themonkmastersuniversity.com and join me.

If you spend one thousand dollars at the highest level of MMU you will have me as your coach and mentor for as long as two years! You will be able to acquire knowledge, and develop your skills. This is not an ad. I have an ad in this paper. I am sharing with you what you need to do to become a better player.

As a member of MMU you will be able to attend my two day workshops at no cost! The Monk’s workshops are fully guaranteed. If you do not learn, improve, and become happy with your experience, The Monk will refund your money! The next time you think about going to pool school, ask for a money back guarantee. My two day workshop, with special guest Tom “Dr. Cue” Rossman is just five hundred dollars. Plus I have three other master teachers with me. It is time to take your game to the highest level and you can do that one step at a time. Make sure your coach has the ability to take you through all the steps and not just the ones with props and gimmicks.

First win in Florida

Hi Tim,

Just to let you know how I am doing. The other day I played 10 players 2 out of 3, 8 ball sets, and won every single game ! WOW did that surprise the gang ! The players, a group of "Snowbirds" from Canada get together twice a week and compete against each other. Last year they beat me easily..., but this time around I felt like the proverbial weakling returning to beat the bully eg, Charles Atlas commercials of yesteryear.

Your teachings are right on, concentration and right attitude paid off. Now I can go on and play others with more confidence than ever, thank you for the wonderfull coaching, see you in the finals!

The end of dirty pool is near

A friend of mine was invited out side to settle a dispute over a pool game. The dispute was “dirty pool”. My friend played a safety and his opponent wanted to fight over it.

I thought those days were over a long time ago. There are two sides to this great game. Offense and defense. We must be skilled at both. A great safety is awesome to see. I don’t like to kick at balls but I can appreciate a great safety and I expect my opponent to fight for every chance to win. I am not asking her to shoot a foolish shot just so I can run out.

Those who cannot handle the defensive part of this game should find another sport. Pool is an offensive game and a defensive game.

In my lesson book I have a chapter with 27 safeties we must all master and use. It would be sad if some backwards poor sport got mad when you delivered a highly skilled shot and gained the advantage.

I also have a complete banking and kicking system offered in the 202 dvd’s. I show you how to play safe, and how to get out of a safety. That’s part of the game.

What do you do with a player who calls safety play “dirty pool?”

The next time this “dirty pool” player misses a tough shot, notice where he leaves you for your next shot. He missed the shot on purpose just to leave you tough. Now that’s dirty pool and deceptive. If you don’t have the ball in hand rule, your league is reduced to poor sports that miss out on the joys of this great game.

The Monk Teams up with Schuler

I am really confident when I tell you there is no finer cue around than a Schuler Cue. I do not sell cues. I endorse Schuler Cue's because I know you will always get a great hitting cue that does not depreciate. I bought a Schuler about five years ago for two thousand dollars. I have been offered seven thousand for it. Schuler Cues are the best. You can log on to www.schulercue.com and check out the fine selection of cues.

I just received my SLC 545 and can't put it down. The cue is not only beautiful, it hits with true feel. I can do all the shots I need to finish my run outs. I am so excited about this cue, I whole heartedly recommend you log on to the Schuler site and get yourself a crafted true hitting cue.

I do not make any money off your purchase. I am sharing this with you because I believe in what they are doing with Schuler
