put your bats away and pick up your cue. September 15, 2006 |
Put your softball bat away! Now it is time to pick up the pool cue and dust off the cob webs. We all start out the league with a perfect score and then it’s down hill from there. I suppose you could say that the player who makes the fewest mistakes will end up at the top of the league. So our theme for this season is to play smart, play strong and make good decisions.
When competing against a great player you must be aggressive. You need to be strong. No one wins with safeties. You must pocket the balls to win a game.
When you compete against a lesser player, switch to a conservative mode. Play the game so that your opponent never gets a chance to beat you. Many times a lesser player will bump into balls and leave the table a mess. If you try to run out, you will dig yourself into a hole.
Make sure you master the “Stun” break as taught in The Four Strokes of Pool vol. one. This break is vital. You need to control the table and a good break will do that for you. You might want to pick up The Eight Ball Book. You can get it in either book form or e-book. Use it to master the game of eight ball.
The Mind Controls The Stroke.Since we are trying to control our minds, we must have a goal. You cannot control something that is scattered in all directions. When it comes to developing your skills, you must define your purpose in this game. You also need to declare “why” you desire that purpose. Your mind will automatically see the goals and directions you desire and focus on those things that enable you to fulfill your purpose. Your true purpose has always been part of you. Some dreams take courage to face.
The shot includes four elements. The shot offers you a target. The shot asked for a specific stroke. The shot ask for specific speed. The shot ask you to deliver the stroke.
We begin to control our mind when we develop a Pre Shot Routine. The PSR is not just for rhythm. The pace we use helps us control our mind. If you are not in line your mind cannot direct you to deliver the stroke the shot calls for.
You mind is in control. That is why you must be certain, via of your Pre Shot Routine, exactly what you want to achieve. You have a goal.Make the ball and get position on the next shot. You must deliver the ingredients within the shot to achieve your goal. If you goal is clear, your PSR will put you in position for success. If you are not clear you are scattered and will be an inconsistent player.
The mind will see only those objects which bring the mind closer to the goals you have set forth. Therefore, the PSR is the only way you can pocket balls and get position on the next shot. There is no other way to gain the consistency you need to become a master.

A tip of the hat to Mr. Reyes.Efren took home a half of million dollars when he captured the World Eight Ball Title. On the shot that sets up the five hundred thousand, Efren delivered a delicate deadly pair with inside English. It takes a real champion to deliver that shot. The announcers in the booth were calling for a “roller” and to be honest, I think I would have opted for the “roller” myself. The right shot was the deadly pair. You could not get into trouble if you delivered the perfect stroke. Under those conditions, to deliver the perfect stroke takes great maturity. That’s why Efren was crowned the champion.
Focus on WinningThese motivational tapes will help you play better and win more games. A girl came to my booth in Las Vegas and bought Focus on Winning. She returned an hour later to tell me her game shot through the roof and she won all three matches. Her teammate then came over to get a set of Focus on Winning tapes. She played better and the rest of her teammates come over to get their copy.
I have had players call me from the road because they wore out their tapes and needed replacements. Focus on Winning comes in four tapes. Some of the tapes are subliminal and will convince your sub conscious mind that you are a great player.
The concept is remarkable. That is why I titled my new e book Focus on Winning.
Focus on Winning has been helping players since 1995. It retails for $49.95. You can order these remarkable tapes for $49.95 and I will give you the e-book Focus on Winning. That is a $20.00 value just for your order.
As always with my specials, they are not posted on the web site. You need to use pay pal to monkbilliardacademy@yahoo.com or call 1-603-566-6229. Use visa or Master. Listen to the tapes and your performance will instantly improve.
